BILOXI, Miss. (AP) - Starkville Daily News publisher Don Norman has been elected the Mississippi Press Association’s new president.

Members elected Norman, 69, during the association’s 150th annual convention Friday in Biloxi.

A Natchez native, Norman has been publisher at Starkville since 2000. He previously worked for newspapers in Alabama and Natchez.

Under Norman’s leadership the Daily News has become a hub that prints 23 daily and weekly newspapers. He also currently serves as publisher of the Daily Times Leader in West Point.

Copiah County Courier Publisher Joe Coates is joining the association’s board.

Other officers elected include:

- First vice president Paul Keane, publisher of The Wayne County News;

- Second vice president Kevin Cooper, publisher of The Natchez Democrat

- Treasurer James Arrington Goff, executive editor of The News-Commercial in Collins.
