COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Dive teams have suspended a search for the body of a teen who disappeared in a Columbus river.

Rescuers had been searching for the teenager in the Scioto (sy-OH’-tuh) River after he went missing Thursday afternoon. Dive teams were called in Thursday evening when he never turned up.

Police called off the operation Thursday night and plan to resume the search Friday morning.

The teen hasn’t been publicly identified.

Investigators say that section of the river is dangerous due to the fast current and varying water depths.

The area is posted with no-swimming signs.
