BOSTON (AP) - Five of Massachusetts’ nine Democratic U.S. House members face no Republican challengers this fall.
That’s according to a list of congressional candidates released Tuesday by the Massachusetts Secretary of State’s office.
Five incumbents - Reps. Richard Neal, Jim McGovern, Katherine Clark, Seth Moulton and Michael Capuano - have no opposition from any party candidates.
Republican Ann Wofford is challenging Rep. Niki Tsongas while Rep. Joe Kennedy will face Republican David Rosa. Rep. Stephen Lynch faces a challenge from Republican William Burke. Two Republicans - Mark Alliegro and Thomas Joseph O’Malley - are vying for the chance to unseat Rep. Bill Keating.
The state’s two Democratic U.S. senators, Elizabeth Warren and Edward Markey, are not up for re-election this year.
Non-party candidates have until August 30 to submit nomination papers.
