ST. GEORGE, S.C. (AP) - A lane on busy Interstate 95 in Dorchester County is being temporarily closed for an emergency bridge repair. The bridge is near Saint George about 20 miles south of where I-95 crosses Interstate 26.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation said Tuesday that a southbound lane on the interstate is closed while a steel plate is brought in to repair a hole in the deck.

Officials say the problem is the result of aging infrastructure and a previous patch on the bridge has broken loose.

Southbound traffic will be limited to one lane while the patch is put in place. Permanent repairs will be scheduled later.
