FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Fresno police say one of two homeless men who were severely beaten in a back alley last week has died of his injuries.

The Fresno County coroner’s identified the man as 56-year-old Rogelio Perez of Fresno.

The Fresno Bee reports (https://bit.ly/1PfpOPX) Perez and another homeless man sustained severe head trauma, and one of them was cut on the face when they were attacked.



Police say the second man who is 39-year-old remains in serious condition. They say t’s unclear if the two men were beaten during a robbery, a dispute or for another reason.

The case remains under investigation.
