TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Two people have been arrested after a body was found covered by some leaves in some woods in Alexander County.

The sheriff’s department told local media that 51-year-old Toni Hearne of Charlotte and 33-year-old Linsey Marie Lentz of Albemarle have been charged with murder and failure to report a death.

The sheriff’s office said they are charged in the death of Robert Adama Hearne Jr.

Sheriff’s deputies and Taylorsville police responded to a suspicious car near N.C. Highway 90 on Wednesday.

Sheriff Chris Bowman said a deputy who arrived found two suspects stuck in a vehicle behind an abandoned home. Officers tracked a trail from the car to the body that was covered by some leaves, wood and tires.

It was not clear if Herne and Lentz have lawyers.
