SUTHERLAND, Neb. (AP) - The body of a man has been found in a canal near the Gerald Gentleman power plant south of Sutherland in western Nebraska.

Lincoln County deputies were dispatched around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday after someone called to report the discovery. The body was recovered and an autopsy has been ordered so authorities can determine the cause of death and identify the man.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office says vehicle tracks were spotted leading into the canal upstream from where the body was found. A dive team will try to find the vehicle on Thursday.
