NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Federal officials say a worker was killed while working on an oil platform rig in the Gulf of Mexico.

On Friday, the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement said it was investigating the worker’s death on a platform in the Green Canyon area of the Gulf, which lies about 150 miles south of New Orleans.

The agency provided few details and said its investigators would visit the platform once bad weather hitting the Gulf and Louisiana clears up.

The death was reported by Houston-based oil and gas operator Whistler Energy II.
