NEW YORK (AP) - New York City firefighters found a leak in a pipeline that delivers fuel to New York’s LaGuardia and John F. Kennedy airports, but say it has been isolated and the pipeline has been shut down.

Fire crews initially received a call reporting an odor of gas near the Buckeye Pipeline in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn Thursday evening.

A fire department spokesman said firefighters went to investigate and then found a leak in the pipeline, which also delivers fuel to terminals in New York City and Long Island. He said the leak was isolated and the pipeline was shut down.

Buckeye Partners, L.P., which operates the pipeline, said in a statement the spill has been contained and cleanup is underway. It says there’s no danger to the community.
