FARGO, N.D. (AP) - A man accused of stealing a package from a mail carrier as part of a scheme to pick up marijuana says he will plead guilty.

A document filed Friday in federal court calls for Raymond Stenson, of Enderlin, to plead guilty to theft. The government has agreed to drop charges of robbery and assault.

Authorities say Stenson first followed the mail carrier into an apartment in an attempt to get the package. After the carrier refused to turn over the package, Stenson later snatched it outside of the mail van.

The carrier chased after Stenson and tackled him to get the package back. The mail carrier told police that Stenson started crying and said he was worried that people will kill him if he didn’t show up with the package.
