MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - A 16-year-old Morgantown boy has died after he was shot in the head on Monday.

The Dominion Post reports (https://bit.ly/1RTFDip) Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Perry Palmer says Damon Sochko died Wednesday.

Police have charged Christopher Smith with wanton endangerment for the shooting. According to the criminal complaint Smith was recklessly manipulating a loaded handgun when it fired a bullet, hitting Damon.



Damon was a sophomore at Morgantown High School.

School officials said counselors were available for students there.
