WATERBURY, Vt. (AP) - State police say they’re continuing to investigate whether criminal charges should be brought in the case of a 3-year-old boy who wandered into a brook and drowned near a Vermont day care.

Police say Parker Berry of Hyde Park was missing when family arrived to pick him up from the Elephant in the Field day care on Feb. 11. He was later found in the brook. He died the next day.

Lt. Lance Burnham told The Burlington Free Press (https://bfpne.ws/1QR6GZh ) Thursday that police are waiting on more information before sending the case to the Washington County State’s Attorney’s Office. Burnham says that could happen Friday.

A Department for Children and Families spokeswoman says the agency has been looking into possible neglect or abuse and whether regulations were broken.
