SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Authorities have temporarily relocated 26 female parolees after a fire started inside their Salt Lake City facility.
KSL-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1SGi275 ) that Utah Department of Corrections spokeswoman Brooke Adams says the fire was inside a bedroom at Orange Street Community Correctional Center on Wednesday evening. She says the sprinkler system caused flooding in the housing area.
Adams says the women were allowed to take a few belongings with them before being evacuated. They are temporarily staying at the Atherton Community Treatment Center in West Valley City.
Adams says a corrections officer who put out the fire with an extinguisher was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Officials were still investigating the cause of the fire Thursday morning.
