CHARLOTTE, Mich. (AP) - A woman who pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the 2014 death of her 76-year-old mother who lived with her at a Lansing-area hotel has been sentenced to prison.

The Lansing State Journal reports (https://on.lsj.com/1RaXQLc ) 54-year-old Robin Sanford was sentenced Thursday to seven years, two months to 15 years in prison after earlier entering the plea in an agreement with prosecutors.

Sanford’s attorney Lucas Dillon argued for less prison time, saying his client was following her mother’s wishes not to receive medical care.

Sanford was initially charged with murder and vulnerable adult abuse in the death of Nancy Belen, who lived at a Red Roof Inn in Eaton County’s Delta Township. Belen had bed sores, a skin infection and liver failure. She died in January 2014 at a hospital.
