SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) - A California driver who killed a car salesman while test-driving a Corvette has been declared a fugitive.

Prosecutors say 28-eight-year-old Alex Demetro of Union City was high on drugs when the car crashed into a tree last month in Ontario, east of Los Angeles.

The crash killed a CarMax employee who was in the car, 43-year-old Warren Smale of Montclair.

Demetro was released from jail on bail a day after the crash. San Bernardino County authorities announced Tuesday that he’s fled.

He’s charged with vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence of drugs and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
