WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) - Police say they are investigating whether motor racing world champion Lewis Hamilton broke New Zealand law by filming himself with a mobile phone while riding a motorbike.

Hamilton, who is visiting New Zealand before traveling to the Australian Grand Prix, posted two videos to the Snapchat video sharing site apparently showing him riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle on an Auckland motorway. One shows him joining the motorway from an entry road and another shows him riding the motorbike before panning to show other traffic.

It has been illegal in New Zealand to use a mobile phone while driving a vehicle since 2009.

A spokesman told the New Zealand Herald police are reviewing the footage and would “take a strong stance on any activity which places undue risk on the lives on any person on the road.”
