NEW YORK (AP) - A 55-year-old woman has been struck and killed by a sanitation truck while crossing a street on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

Police say it happened at about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of First Avenue and 92nd Street.

Police say Jodi McGrath, of Manhattan, was walking across First Avenue when the sanitation truck driven by a 58-year-old man made a left turn onto the avenue and struck her.

The woman was taken to a hospital where she died. The driver remained at the scene.

Police say there have been no arrests.
