CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The Wyoming Legislature has approved more than $8 million in cuts to the state’s tax refund program for elderly and disabled residents.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports (https://bit.ly/1S5CXOC ) that the cuts signed into law earlier this month under the state’s two-year budget bill is expected to affect thousands of the state’s seniors and disabled residents.

State records show more than 6,100 people received funds through the tax refund program in 2015. The average annual refund was about $625.



The state program started in 1976. Only individuals making less than $17,500 a year or couples making less than a combined $28,500 are eligible for the funds.
