SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Utah prosecutors say a misconduct complaint they filed against a former judge accused of sexually assaulting a Utah woman when he was a prosecutor and she was a teenage witness has been closed.

The Utah Attorney General’s office says they received notice Tuesday that the complaint filed against Richard W. Roberts was closed Friday. A letter announcing the complaint’s closure was posted on the website of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. It doesn’t mention Roberts but says the case was closed because the judge retired March 16, as Roberts did.

Before retiring Roberts was the chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

A complaint against a district court judge is handled by the circuit court for the judge’s region.
