CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A Casper woman accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill her ex-husband has been sentenced to 20 to 25 years in prison.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://goo.gl/QKcNCZ ) Cynthia Guy was sentenced Tuesday after previously pleading guilty to solicitation to commit aggravated kidnapping. She was initially charged with solicitation of first-degree murder but struck a plea deal with prosecutors to lessen the charge.

Guy, who was a therapist at Central Wyoming Counseling Center, was arrested in May 2014. She had asked a patient to arrange for the murder of her ex-husband, but the patient went to the authorities instead. Prosecutors say Guy agreed to pay $4,000 for the hit.

On Tuesday, she said her life had been spiraling downward and “I temporarily lost my moral compass.”
