SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - A Spartanburg man is accused of stabbing a dog with a kitchen knife, leading to its death.
Media outlets report that 26-year-old Daquon Justin Connor was charged Monday with ill treatment of animals and public disorderly conduct.
Spartanburg County Sheriff’s deputies responded Monday to a residence for a disturbance report. An incident report says Connor was heavily intoxicated when he began antagonizing a pit bull and hit the dog with a shovel before stabbing it with a knife.
Connor was found inside the home near a bloody kitchen knife and denied the stabbing. The report says Connor told deputies he was just “wrestling” with the dog.
Spartanburg County Department of Environmental Enforcement officers responded and determined the dog had died from injuries.
It isn’t clear if Connor has an attorney.
