DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - A former Dothan elementary school teacher has been found guilty of stealing $1,500 worth of items from two department stores.

The Dothan Eagle reports (https://bit.ly/1Rz3ukv) that Tuesday, a Houston County jury found 32-year-old Ashley Brooke Crutchfield guilty of felony second-degree theft of property and misdemeanor third-degree theft of property. She will be sentenced in May.

Court records say Crutchfield was arrested in 2015 for stealing $928.68 worth of items from a Belk department store. She also stole more than $600 worth of merchandise from a Kohl’s store.



Her then-husband Bradley Crutchfield was also implicated in the crimes and pleaded guilty to similar charges.

Crutchfield formerly taught third grade at Cloverdale Elementary School in Dothan. She resigned after her arrest.

She was named ’Teacher of the Year’ for Cloverdale for 2014-2015.
