NEW YORK (AP) - Prosecutors say a New York man has been indicted in connection with a confrontation that left two New York City officers with gunshot injures.
Thirty-four-year-old Fredrick Funes was ordered held without bail Thursday after pleading not guilty to attempted murder of a police officer and other charges in state Supreme Court in Brooklyn.
Authorities said officers on patrol in Brooklyn on Feb. 20 had heard gunshots and then saw Funes pointing a revolver.
They say he then crashed his car into a police vehicle. New York Police Department Officers William Reddin and Andrew Yurkiw were shot during the confrontation. Both were later released from the hospital.
Brooklyn District Attorney Kenneth Thompson said Funes “tried to kill multiple police officers.”
Funes’ attorney didn’t immediately respond to a message seeking comment Thursday.
