MIAMI (AP) - A South Florida doctor has been arrested in connection with a crash that killed a pedestrian in 2014.
Local media outlets report 61-year-old Dr. Eric Spivack of Sunny Isles Beach was arrested Tuesday at Aventura Hospital, where records show he works. He faces a charge of DUI manslaughter stemming from the August 2014 incident in North Miami Beach.
An arrest report says Spivack, who is a cardiologist, was driving when he struck and killed 77-year-old Yakov Duboshinskiy, who was crossing the street.
Police said Spivack smelled of alcohol. A toxicology test later determined that Spivack had a blood-alcohol level of .087 percent, above the legal limit of .08, and had codeine in his system.
Spivack’s bond was set at $30,000. WTVJ-TV reports Spivack’s attorney didn’t want to comment on the case.
