HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) - An alligator blamed for killing a family’s dog on a Hilton Head Island golf course has been captured.

The Island Packet (https://goo.gl/wskCdG ) reports that the alligator was caught Monday by Critter Management and would be killed.

Video of the capture shows the 100-pound animal snapping its jaws as it was ensnared by the trappers.

The owners of the 85-pound husky, Ron and Beth Ann Julseth, have said their dog had gotten away from their house earlier this month and was apparently drinking at the edge of the pond when it was attacked. Ron Julseth said teeth marks indicate the dog had been grabbed by the head and pulled into the water.

The newspaper says electronic signs at the gates of the golf course community warn people not to let pets or children near lagoons in the spring.
