ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Police records show a 24-year-old man who was killed near an Albuquerque ATM was trying to detain his attackers before he was shot.
The Albuquerque Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1VVCD60 ) that witness statements show Tyler Lackey was armed and trying to hold his would-be robber at the scene until police could arrive before he was shot on Feb. 5. Lackey was a recently discharged Army veteran.
Lackey’s friend, who was with him that night, told police Lackey had pointed his gun at the suspects, hoping to hold them for law enforcement, before one of two suspects shot him.
Police are still searching for the suspects. Warrants have been issued charging the pair with murder, arson and several other offenses.
