MANASSAS, Va. (AP) - Authorities say they’ve arrested a man suspected of firing at cars as part of a drug deal, prompting the evacuation of homes in one northern Virginia neighborhood.

A news release from the city of Manassas says 23-year-old Manuel Gonzalez was arrested Thursday night in Woodbridge, about 15 miles away, and charged with weapons offenses and shooting at an occupied vehicle.

Officials say police officers responded to reports of shots fired Thursday afternoon and found damaged vehicles, but no one injured. Police say two men were seen running into a townhouse and received a tip that they had high-powered automatic weapons and possibly explosives.

Chief Doug Keen told the Washington Post ( ) no one was in the home, but investigators found weapons.

Manassas officials said Friday that the shooting was connected to a drug deal and that shots were also fired into the suspects’ home. Police are still looking for a second suspect.
