Ohio Gov. John Kasich said Monday that Republicans were responsible for the “Clinton economy” he predicted Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton will be talking up in the fall.

“You mark my words: Hillary Clinton in the fall will be bragging about the Clinton economy,” Mr. Kasich said at a town hall event in Michigan. “You know why it happened? Because Republicans got in, cut taxes, balanced budgets and forced Bill Clinton to go along.”

Mr. Kasich, former chairman of the House Budget Committee, told the crowd they should understand something about Mr. Clinton.

“If a riot is coming at him, he will get in front of it and call it a parade, OK? Just so you know,” he said.

Mr. Kasich, who is running fourth in the delegate count in the 2016 GOP presidential race, is looking to Midwestern states such as Michigan and his home state of Ohio to pick up some momentum. Michigan holds its primary on Tuesday and Ohio votes on March 15.
