EAGLE, Colo. (AP) - A driver who tested positive for alcohol and prescription medications after slamming his cement truck into a minivan has pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide.
According to a Denver Post report (https://tinyurl.com/j9kfb5u) Tuesday, Sergio Ordonez-Morales, the 29-year-old driver of the minivan, was killed in the head-on crash in Eagle County on July 23, 2015. The 5th Judicial District Attorney’s Office says witnesses saw 47-year-old Anthony Eugene Chase weaving and crossing the double yellow line just before the collision.
Prosecutors say Chase’s blood alcohol level was at the legal limit of .08 and that he had traces of three types of prescription medications, including Xanax, in his system.
Prosecutors say Chase faces between four and 12 years in prison with a mandatory parole period of five years. He is to be sentenced May 2.
