MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - A New Hampshire program that encourages high school students to take challenging classes with an emphasis on science and math is celebrating passing the 25,000 graduates mark in its 10th year.
NH Scholars on Wednesday will celebrate 5,300 graduates of the program in 2016 with an awards ceremony in Manchester on Wednesday. The graduates represent nearly every high school in the Granite State.
NH Scholars officials say students in the program are urged to focus on course in physics, math, foreign language and engineering.
NH Scholars director Scott Power says nearly 100 percent of the program’s graduates go on to college.
Wednesday’s ceremony at the Northeast Delta Dental Stadium will run from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and will be followed by an NH Scholars-themed Fisher Cats baseball game.
