SALEM, Ore. (AP) - The Marion County sheriff’s office wants people to know there a device that would help them track down missing elderly and vulnerable people more quickly. The device called Project Lifesaver is a bracelet with a beacon inside that allows search and rescue teams to zero in on a missing person.

KGW-TV reports (https://is.gd/WcdHV2 ) Marion County started offering the bracelets a year and a half ago, but only two families use them. It’s not free. The bracelet costs $95 plus a $25 monthly fee. But the sheriff’s office says they will help families who can’t afford it find the money to pay for the device.

Besides Marion County, Yamhill and Washington counties in Oregon use Project Lifesaver, along with Clark and Cowlitz counties in Washington.
