LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Local and state entities are calling for public input on a plan to develop Fort Atkinson State Historical Park into a Nebraska tourist destination.

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has scheduled an informational meeting May 11 in Fort Calhoun.

Organizations as such as the city of Fort Calhoun and the Fort Atkinson Foundation have crafted a plan to fulfill the park’s vision statement to offer “quality historical interpretation of the westward expansion of the United States and Fort Atkinson’s role in this history.”

The meeting will outline the plan’s goals and objectives. Public discussion will follow.

The meeting is at 7 p.m. in the library of Fort Calhoun High School, 5876 County Road P43.
