PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police say a hiking outing between two men ended with one hitting the other with a rock.

Police spokesman James Holmes says first responders were called around 8 a.m. Sunday to a hiking trail near 22nd Place and Mountain View Road.

They located the injured 29-year-old victim.

Firefighters transported him to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the victim, he and the suspect met for the first time earlier in the day and agreed to walk the trail together.

Holmes says they got into an altercation for an unknown reason and the suspect allegedly struck the victim in the head with a rock.

The suspect then fled.

He is described as white, approximately 28 years old and with tattoos on his arm.
