HARTS LOCATION, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire Fish and Game officials say a hiker from Maine was rescued after experiencing breathing problems Saturday on a trail in Harts Location.

Authorities say 23-year-old Kristina Reams of Bridgton, Maine, was about 1.5 miles from the trailhead to Dry River Trail when she started having trouble breathing late afternoon Saturday. Because there is no cell phone service in the area, her hiking companion ran back to the road and flagged down a passing motorist, who placed an emergency call at 6:45 p.m.

Officials say conservation officers and members of Pemi Valley Search and Rescue reached Reams, stabilized her breathing and got her back to the trailhead and a waiting ambulance by 9:50 p.m. She was taken to Memorial Hospital in North Conway for treatment.
