FREEHOLD, N.J. (AP) - An Asbury Park man accused of fatally beating another man during a drug deal gone bad has been convicted of felony murder.

Monmouth County prosecutors say 21-year-old Spencer Young was also found guilty of robbery and aggravated manslaughter in the July 2013 death of Thomas Sudano Jr.

Prosecutors say the 36-year-old Brick man had traveled to Asbury Park to buy drugs. But they say he was attacked by that person and Young after they lured him into a city housing complex.

Prosecutors say the pair took Sudano’s money and cellphone after he was beaten unconscious. Sudano died two days later, and an autopsy determined that he died from blunt force trauma to the head and neck

Young faces several decades in prison, though a sentencing date has not been set
