JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) - Prosecutors say they will seek an adult trial for a 16-year-old Jersey City boy charged in the fatal shooting of another teen.
Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced Sunday that the suspect had been arrested at a relative’s home on Saturday and was being held at a county detention center. His name was not released due to his age.
Suarez says the boy is now charged with juvenile delinquency. But she will seek to have him tried as an adult on murder charges.
The teen is charged in the shooting death of 17-year-old Rondell Rush. Authorities say Rush was shot in the head on Tuesday in Jersey City and died the next day at a hospital.
A motive for the shooting has not been disclosed.
