BELHAVEN, N.C. (AP) - The fight to re-open a small-town hospital in eastern North Carolina continues with supporters keeping watch over the building, which they fear will be demolished.

Multiple media outlets report supporters of reopening Vidant Pungo Hospital in Belhaven have set up what they call “Resurrection Tent,” where they’ve kept watch for more than two weeks.

They fear building owner Pantego Creek LLC wants to demolish the structure. Pantego attorneys said last month that those claims weren’t true.

At a rally Saturday, North Carolina NAACP President the Rev. William Barber said a federal complaint will be filed Monday with the U.S. Justice Department. He says the complaint will address what supporters believe were improper actions taken by Vidant Health and the managers of Pantego Creek LLC.

The hospital closed July 1, 2014.
