JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Forecasters say severe weather is possible in portions of eastern Arkansas.

The National Weather Service says strong storms are possible Sunday evening from west Tennessee to Harrisburg, Arkansas, in Poinsett County. Forecasters say damaging winds and large hail will be the main threats.

A flood warning in effect for the Black River at Black Rock until Wednesday. Forecasters say flooding could impact some residents of Independence, Jackson and Lawrence counties.

At 10 a.m. Sunday the river stood at 15.5 feet. Flood stage is 14 feet. The weather service says the river is expected to continue to rise to about 17 feet by Monday morning. Flooding could occur on low-lying cultivated land and pastures in the area.

A flood warning is also in effect for the White River at Augusta, Arkansas.
