MANCHESTER, England (AP) - If Leicester clinches the English Premier League title on Monday, its manager might be among the last people to know.
Claudio Ranieri will be flying home from his native Italy when Tottenham plays Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday night. Spurs need to win to stop Leicester winning the Premier League with two games to spare.
“I will be the last man to know the result,” Ranieri said, laughing.
Ranieri is travelling to Italy late Sunday to visit his 96-year-old mother. He will have lunch with her on Monday before flying back to England.
He could return as a league champion, for the first time in his 30-year coaching career.
Leicester is eight points ahead of Tottenham after drawing 1-1 at Manchester United on Sunday.
