MILLVILLE, Del. (AP) - A state audit has found more than $190,000 in personal transactions made by the former treasurer of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company.

The report was released Tuesday by the State of Delaware Office of Auditor of Accounts. The report says of that amount, more than $144,000 were attributable to ATM and cash withdrawals.

The state office discovered that the fire company’s accounting records were falsified to conceal the irregularities in account balance.

The fire company also was impacted by what the auditor’s report calls a “lack of internal controls.”
