BELLE CHASSE, La. (AP) - The Plaquemines Parish government notes that a federal levee and floodgate project in Belle Chasse is creating detours for all traffic to and from the Belle Chasse Ferry.
A news release says traffic signs were going up and flagmen will be directing commuters at the start of the three-month project.
The parish says the detours began Wednesday.
During the work, trailers, double-axel and large commercial vehicles will be barred from the Belle Chasse Ferry landing.
The parish directs questions and concerns to the Army Corps of Engineers at 1-877-427-0345.
