RIVERHEAD, N.Y. (AP) - The second of three teenagers charged with raping a 16-year-old girl in the wooded area of a Long Island golf course last year is heading to prison.

Eighteen-year-old Joel Escobar was sentenced Wednesday to 12 years in prison. He pleaded guilty to rape and other charges.

The victim’s mother told Escobar that he “had no conscience.”

Prosecutors had said the suspects approached the girl near a Brentwood middle school in May 2015. Investigators say they robbed and attacked her and a male who was with her.

They allege the suspects took the girl to a golf course and raped her. She was found naked in the woods.

Escobar’s co-defendant, 17-year-old Jose Cornejo is serving a 15-year sentence. A third man, Bryan Larios, has pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial.
