RIVERA, Texas (AP) - Authorities say three people, including a 3-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy, have died in a Kleberg County car crash.

The Texas Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 3 p.m. Wednesday. Authorities say a driver and four passengers were traveling on State Highway 285 west of Rivera in a Chevrolet Malibu, when it went off the edge of a curve. The Chevrolet’s driver overcorrected and struck a Kenworth truck head-on.

Twenty-one-year-old Kris Gonzalez and the two children were pronounced dead at the scene. The three were passengers in the Chevrolet.

The car’s driver was transported to a hospital in critical condition and a 1-year-old boy was taken to a hospital with injuries that aren’t considered to be life-threatening.

The truck’s driver was treated and released at the scene.
