JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Department of Education has released the share of students in each school district that passed the first administration of a new reading test required to advance from third grade to fourth grade. Statewide 87 percent of students, or 34,300, passed. Failing statewide were 13 percent of students, or 5,100. The state did not release exact passing percentages for districts in which more than 95 percent of students passed. Here’s a look at the share passing by district:
