ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A 37-year-old homeless Anchorage man is being held on suspicion of second-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend.

Anchorage police say Jeffrey McCracken is suspected of killing 48-year-old Susan Ragan, who also was homeless.

Police at 3:40 a.m. Wednesday took a call from McCracken.

He reported Ragan was unconscious and not breathing at their campsite behind Tyson Elementary School in northeast Anchorage.

Ragan was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

Police say McCracken used physical force that killed Ragan.

He’s being held on $250,000 bail at the Anchorage Jail.
