TROY, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say an Alabama man shot and killed one of three men who broke into his home to rob it, while the other two were arrested after fleeing.

Al.com reports (https://bit.ly/1XnKLiA ) the deadly home invasion attempt happened at about 2:30 a.m. in Pike County. Sheriff’s Lt. Troy Johnson says a 36-year-old resident answered a knock at his door and three men forced their way into his home.

Johnson says one of the robbers pulled a gun on the resident, who managed to grab the firearm and shoot at the intruders. All three ran away.

Johnson says deputies found 21-year-old Javonte King of Troy lying dead nearby. They soon arrested Anthony Jerome Starks and Davaris Mendenhall and charged them with first-degree robbery. It was not immediately known if they had attorneys.
