BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Louisiana authorities say a 31-year-old man died when his father’s 15-foot aluminum boat hit an Interstate 10 piling, throwing both men into the water.

The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says another boater in the Whiskey Bay area rescued the father - who was driving the boat - shortly after the 1 p.m. Thursday accident. A news release says he was taken to a hospital but his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Spokesman Adam Einck says state and Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office search crews found Justin Viator’s body about 2:30 p.m. in the Atchafalaya Basin swamp.

Officials say investigators don’t believe alcohol contributed to the accident.

They note that neither man wore a life jacket.

Authorities say the Iberville Parish Coroner’s Office will determine the cause of Viator’s death.
