ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - The first projects have been approved in a program to improve technology in New York schools.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday the 52 projects will be funded with $45 million from the $2 billion Smart Schools Bond Act that was approved by voters.

The main amount, $26 million, will pay for classroom technology equipment.

A list of districts that received funding can be found on the governor’s website.

Cuomo said the goal was to ensure classrooms are up to speed with technology so that students are prepared for modern jobs.
