OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine (AP) - A fundraiser has raised hundreds of dollars for the family of a baby who died in a crash on the Maine Turnpike in Wells.

State police said 11-month-old Reece Degen was killed in the one-car crash last week. She was in a child safety seat and suffered fatal head injuries.

The baby’s mother, 21-year-old Brianna Degen of Sanford, and the driver, 22-year-old Alyssa Cray of Sanford, were taken to a hospital with multiple injuries. Cray’s two young children were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Family and friends gathered Wednesday for a special dinner at the American Legion in Old Orchard Beach. The fundraiser raised $1,400 for Reece’s family.

Family members say they’re thankful for the outpouring of support from communities.
