CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a 17-year-old girl will be tried as an adult in the shooting of a 13-year-old boy who became the first homicide victim of the year in Camden, New Jersey.

Prosecutors say Casche Alford had her murder case waived from juvenile court to adult court on Thursday.

She’s accused of shooting Nathaniel Plummer Jr., who was found wounded on a sidewalk on Jan. 7 and died the next day.

She surrendered Jan. 9 to face attempted-murder and other charges stemming from an October shooting that left a 19-year-old man wounded. She has been held at a juvenile detention facility since.

Her lawyer hasn’t returned a phone message left at his office after business hours.
